Default Traction Bar

Im thinking of turboing my ef and have heard different people say different things about traction bars. Are they 100% neccessary when i dont have a front motor mount? IS it possible to avoid using a traction bar w/o cutting the front crossmember?

If I need to get one, whats the most cost effective one to buy that isnt a piece of ****?

Anyone whos turboed an EF hatch with any advice and pics would help a lot.
Thanks for any help you could offer.

You will have to cut the front crossmember to fit the downpipe, or you can buy a traction bar and save yourself a headache. As someone else pointed out, L-Con and Full Race bars are both good.

Another version/brand

http://www.mmrusa.com/dsrcrossmember.htm

I do agree with everyone saying it helps with space. All of the stuff I've read, most of it goes back to two things. How much space you have, and IF you can get it with the tools you have.

In the end you'll be glad you got the traction bar. do it, especially if it helps traction plus wheel hop.

I didnt want to cut the front x-member, and I knew that once I was turbo'd hooking up was going to be a challenge and I also plan on running a 3in DP, so I picked up a Jimfab. Id have to say its the best mod I have done to my car so far (excluding the swap lol). Wheel hop is still there, dont get me wrong, but its extremely reduced and the front end of the car feels more stable and all speeds. If you have a B series and your going to boost, your prolly going to need a 92-95 civ half rad. so your snail will fit...

sorry for thread jack but how exactly does the traction bar work? looks like all it would do is save space and look prettier than an oem xmember.

The traction bars preload the suspension, so when you take off the forward force of the acceleration is directed into moving the car forward, instead of loading the radius rod bushings and then the car moving forward. Hope that made sense.

out of any off those traction bars, full race, Lcon, avid... are any low enough to make the eg half rad fit w/o hood interference and a ****-eyed install?

dont get me wrong they all seem like great bars, just i'm looking for on that fits that rad nicely.

I have read a lot of threads and some ppl say the L-con has better clearance than the full-race and others say the oppisite. Which is true here guys? I dont mind paying the extra $100 for the full-race, I just want the best clearance. I have a 90' crx with type R and long crx radiator. DC sports header.
