Default Hytech Questions

Just installed a Hytech header on my car that I got from Black R.

First does the hytech always hang low at the collector? It is low enough that I can jack it up about 2 inches (with a jack) and it looks like it should sit there level.

The only way I see to correct it is mill the flange and or add a rear support to bolt to the stock rear header bracket.

Second, the car will idle but does not want to rev without popping and backfiring. I know it needs to be retuned, but this won't even run smooth off-idle?

Any Thoughts?

NOTE: I haven't started the car since the end of December, Put it away it was running fine. swapped headers and it doesn't want to run

I had to get part of the tranny casing milled to get mine to fit.

Is it hitting anywhere?

No, Its not hitting anywhere. I removed the ITR trtanny brace and replaced it with the GSR/LS brace for clearance.

It just seems that the header is on a downward slop.

I never had a problem with the car running after swapping the header on.

Are you running open header perchance? Primary o2 sensor extended and installed?

Is the slip-fit fully on? It should fit fine then... I don't recall the collector being low. The fitment was quite nice, iirc.

Mine did as well, and the engine ran fine without any tuning, and even better after some tuning.

The good news is the car runs fine, I must have washed a cylinder/flooded??????? something the engine...................must have done it by idling too long in the 30 degree weather?

So the running issue is done.

BUT its does still hang low in the rear. I have about 6" of cleance at the front of the header and about 4.5" at the collector.????????

I will loosen the bolts andtry to readjust the collector tonight.

Thanks Mattj

I don't see how it will hang lower at the collector if you are using the bracket on the back of the block, or is this an older header without attachment for this?
