Well to start it off i took my my old A6 block and put a Y8 head on it. well i got it all in the car and got everything hooked up and i go to start it but it only just turns over it wasn't getting any spark so i went to autozone and got a new Dizzy. cap and rotter button and instaled it. so then i tryed to start it i was getting spark but it didn't start, so i kept trying to start it and then it just started puffing out smoke outta the intakemanifold and each time i went to start it did the same thing. so what could it be??? is the timing backwards from what it should be?


MY SETUP..... 90 D16A6 block, 97 D16Y8 head, 90 Si Dizzy, 90 Si intakemanifold, to keep the car OBD-0. and i'm using a MSD RPM switch to acctivate the v-tec.

sounds like it could be timing...i emmebr my ls crx did that..it was running fine then started to choke and bam smoke came out! ok but u have to look at that "smoke" smoke doesnt dissadear real fast u can see it floating around...what u gotta ask rself was it steam? if ur head gasket isnt on right then ur prolly leaking water into a cylinder and its just back firing from timing at the same time..if have old spark plugs pull them out and seem if some are cleaner then others..steam will take carbon deposits stright off the plugs..but yea re do top dead center and set the timing again...
