idle problem
well im a teenager driving a 91 crx hf and i have a problem...my idle is mad crazy...after i take it out of gear at a stop sign the idle starts going crazy between the 800-1000 rpm mark....its fluctuates up and down.. sometimes fast sometimes slow....when i step on the clutch and put it in first and let the clutch ease off it goes away....some people told me it was the timing belt but im not sure...can someone help me fix the problem on my own without me going to a mechanic....
also can someone give me basic directions to install a short shifter tooo....thank you

Before you start pulling stuff off check the "base idle". Warm the car up to normal operating temperature. Disconnect the IACV (Idle Air Control Valve) electrical connection (back of intake). The car should be idling at 700-750 RPM. If not adjust the base idle with the screw that is above and to the rear of the throttle body opening. If it, the base idle has never been set, there will be a wax plug in the recess. just dig it out. Turn the screw clockwise to slow it down or counter clockwise to raise the idle to 700-750 RPM. Reconnect the IACV and it should idle better.

You have a picture or diagram as to where the IACV is? I got intake cleaner and sprayed the inside of the TB. Then I wiped out what I could with a cloth. I wasn't sure where the IACV was, though. I was just hoping that I would get it in the process. If you use something like TB cleaner, don't use too much. Took me 2 or 3 minutes to get the car started after I sprayed it.
