Carsound 2.5 Cat Questions?
Getting a 2.5" high flow cat doesnt really make any sense if you are going to keep the rest of the exhaust stock. But if you are going to be force induction, a bigger exhaust is highly recomended. Get youself a nice header with a 2.5" collector, the carsound, a nice muffler, a resonator, and then have a shop put all of the components together with some 2.5" pipe. You will probably save some cash by doing this instead of just buying a $600 name brand exhaust.
Its a length of pipe on the exhaust that, through a series of baffles and louvers, quiets the exhaust, without restricting exhaust flow. Im sure youve seen or heard of a "cherry bomb" before. Thats a resonator. Cherry bombs are pretty cheap as well, about $25. Flowmaster makes their own brand as well i think.
But anyway, without a resonator, you exhaust will most likely sound like marbles inside a coffee can. I strongly recommend getting one if you put your own exhaust together.
BTW, if you look under your car, after the cat and before the muffler (just about under the rear seats, you will see the resonator.
