Hi guys,
I'm gonna be getting my CRX with JDM B18C BAR'ed here in a few weeks and I had a quick question. Would the BAR guys care if I was to use a no name air intake tube with a cone filter on it? I figure that as long as I have the nipple that connects it to the valve cover then I should be fine. But I wanted to see how strict these BAR places are.
TIA

yes they do care. You have to use something that is carb legal for the MOTOR not the car, or you have to have a stock airbox and tube.
Hopefully Wes V. will chime in or u can PM him. I think he used a stock ef airbox with a stock DA tube?
Just about the only way to do it is to use the stock air filter box and DA air tube! That's what I did when I got my (USDM) B18C BAR'd. (keep in mind that I'm running a Skunk 2 intake)
What's funny is that I just got in from the garage putting in an AEM cold air intake. It's the one that has the CARB number for the stock SI (with D series motor). Technically, it's not legal due to not being matched to the engine!!!!
The "hybrid" ones that AEM sells do not have a CARB number.
So, if the police pull me over, I've got the label on the intake. I doubt that a cop would know it's not legal, but a Referee would!!

thanks for the replies guys
I just thought I'd ask because I remember there was somebody with an RS Akimoto intake that passed the BAR. I'll just go ahead and rig up my stock DX box with a 90-93 Teg intake arm.

You have to be careful when looking at what others have done. It's not that anybody is trying to lie about it, but they may post a photo that isn't exactly how the car was when they went into the referee!

i used a stock 92-95 airbox and a 96 ls tube . drop in k&n and works really well. you have to cut the mounting arm closest to the fender but the hole lines up for the bottom bolt behind the headlight . i also cut vents in the box in the front bumper to allow more air in .
