CEL came on, then engine wouldn't rev past 5500
I was driving home today from Atlanta, and I wanted to pass one of those idiot RV trailer pullers doing 5 under in the hammer lane. I needed to catch up with traffic that was blowing past me on my right, so I dropped into 3rd a little under 65, and my CEL came on. Then I couldn't rev above about 5500RPM. If I tried, it bounced back. What could this be? A bad vtec solenoid? How can I check what my CEL status is? I don't think that OBD2 has the blinky codes.
Thanks.
Thanks.
VTEC pressure valve..I would just take apart the solenoid and check to make sure everything is clean, and the connectors are plugged in.
If the little screen inside the solenoid isn't clean I heard of that throwing vtec out of whack.

Okay, I took the solenoid off today, took out the gasket/basket, and cleaned the sucker out with carburetor cleaner, what I had lying around...put it back on, reset the ECU, look ma, no CEL. If this had been a Ford, I would have already spent $500 on some similar problem
