Default Installing AN fittings into valve cover

I have drilled and tapped the valve cover for the AN fittings. Should I use a silicone or a teflon tape on the threads? I have also seen them welded to the valve cover. What is my next step,or should I just leave them snug in the valve cover?

I used a little bit of silicone. It has been working fine for me.

I would use hondabond on even locktight on the threads. When taking the hose off to remove the valve cover, sometimes those fittings like to back out from the valve cover. But then again, this is on a racecar that seems to have the valve cover off a million times!

Do you think a red loctite or more of a medium blue loctite?

I would go with red loctite myself. I mean, it will still break loose if need be...

you tapped but i would weld them and you won't have to worry about them leaking.

You can use a teflon tape or paste. Make sure your adapter is an NPT adapter, this way the tapered thread will seal it better than an O-ring seal which may come loose under vibration.

I ended up using the red loctite after I tapped the valve cover. I have had no problems yet, I also waited 24 hours for the loctite to dry. Thanks for all the input.

I dont belive in teflon tape in a motor. If some of the tape gets into the oil system it could cause blockage, paste will usually just hang out where it was applied (in moderation).

AN fittings have a straight thread. You should use an O ring or Stat O seal on them.
I'm a teflon tape hater on any NPT thread as it always seems to end up where I don't want it. (oil pumps and injectors, you get the idea) If you are going teflon to seal treads use the past as it stays put better.
