HX wheels on 96-00 EX?
I heard that HX wheels will not fit on 96-00 EXs due to caliper or rotor clearence without modification. Can anyone confirm or this, or is that untrue?
HX wheels are 14-inches; the VX wheels are 13-inches ...
I had heard that the EXs have bigger brakes thand the CX/DX/HX and they won't clear the calipers on EXs. Still looking for info.

not to sure about if they will fit or not, they should Honda rarely changes stuff around to were it doesn't interchange with other civic models especially wheels
They will fit. The ex does not have bigger brakes than a cx/dx/hx. Strangley the wheels won't fit a 90 civic ex, those have da brakes on them, but the 96-00's you won't have any problem.

Okay, maybe that's what I was thinking of.
Thanks a lot

I know they won't fit on 99/00 SIs.. I had a set of HXs on a 99 EX and got a set of spacers just to be safe. It was still a apretty tight fit with the spacers on. I would test it before running on it

If they don't fit an Si, they won't fit an 96-00 EX because they have the same front brakes. The EX does not have the same front brakes as a DX/HX/LX. Sucks to see people give out wrong information. HX wheels suck anyways

He's right about the front brakes. The EX's come with 14" steelies so I think that the HX wheels would fit since they are also 14". IMO, just get some Si's or some GSR blades.

This is correct. They can be made to fit by grinding off some of the caliper or by fitting a spacer between the wheel and hub.

i had d the same problem to before and i cant remember what the size was 13s or 14s. if there 13s they wont fit asked before and thats what peopl told me.
and i got an 98 ex and they looked ok its somthing different

This is on an EG, they could be different? i put hx's over my EX brakes. You just have to shave the front of the caliper down a tad. It was pretty easy... just go at it with an angle grinder and keep grinding down until the wheel will spin freely.
It took all of 20 minutes.

I know for a fact that HX wheels won't fit over EX brakes without modification. I tried putting them over my 98 EX brakes and ended up shaving the caliper down 3-5mm.
Hx's won't fit over VTEC Del Sol's either without grinding the calipers.
I sandblasted, painted, and cleared my Hx's then mounted new Azenis' and then they didn't clear. Oh well, my 00 Hatch loved them.

The HX's wont fit on an Si without modificationbut can be made to fit! But just so you know you can fit 13" on an Si cause I put some lenzo's on mine! The difference maker is how deep the rim is thats all! But I would have to say that if you like the way they look and its a plus that they are a pretty light rim I would say take 20 or 25 mins and make yourself happy! Good Luck
it's not ghetto to dremel a tiny bit of your caliper to fit hx's, it is extra material and doen't weaken it. hx rims rock, they look stock, are made by enkei, and light. Had em on my 92 si (whick has ex brakes) with no spacer or grinding. The ex brakes that are a little bigger need a spacer or grinding but I've heard some of those fit without grinding. LIke I said it's only extra material that you grindin from the casting process or something

grinding material off of a heat sink? it isn't useless metal per se, but grinding a little off to clear a wheel shouldn't cause any issues.

That's like 19mm... what is the offset of the HX wheels? You must have an inch of rubber hanging outside of the fender.

i think the wheels fit as most civic wheels interchange as long as they clear the brake. i am a friend of kylefakesir and he told me you may have a 4 door ek for sale. if so, let me know. i am looking for one. i am in madison
