Hi gall
My 95 GSR has a stuck caliper. On my drive to work, it started smoking and smelling like brake. Get out and see that there is a groove cut into the rotor by the pads.
This is good timing as I have a set of OE brembo replacements I got from ebay for cheap.
But, I am pretty sure the caliper is toast. Its all rusted to crap. Anyone know a good place online to buy reman calipers? NAPA, Autozone etc seem to carry them, but I am not sure if they or an online source is better to buy from.
Archives search said pepboys has them, but we have no pepboys here.
I am thinking of switching to stainless lines and better pads, might as well since I am in there.
- I was thinking of Axisss or EBC green for pads! Any opinions?
- On ebay, this guy sells GSR braided like for 67 bux? Are they any good? Magnum is the brand name, I think.
Please let me know good places to buy this stuff online, if possible.
Thanks in advance!

You are best off just buying a remanufacturered job from Autozone, Napa, etc. It'll probably be more $$ after sending the core back in the mail and everything if you buy from an online store.
Before you go buying a new caliper, check to make sure that the 2 pins that the caliper slides on aren't seized. The piston in the caliper may be fine but those 2 pins are prone to seizing. I got a GSR and when checking the rear brakes 3 of the 4 pins were seized solid. If they are seized the easiest way to fix them is to take the bracket off, and heat up the bracket with a propane torch. Heat it up away from the rubber part, and this will do 2 things. It will loosen up and melt any grease that is in there and it will expand the bracket so that the pin and free itself. It should start to move after like 5 minutes and then you can clean everything up and regrease it. Below is a diagram of the rear brakes; #40 are the pins I'm talking about.

Oh yea, Axxis Metal Masters are nice all-around pads.

Thanks, honda hick and racermech. I appreciate you guys taking the time to answer!
one of my rear calipers did that once, it got really hot and melted the 500 degree engine paint on it and smelt horrible.
I took it apart and cleaned and regreased it and it has been good ever since(autocrossed it and everything)
