Default Ticket for 'abandoned' car

Got this from the SE-R forum. A guy forgot to move his car for street cleaning and got this:
http://www.monkey-r.com/ticket.jpg

because it looks like this: http://www.monkey-r.com/interior.jpg

They thought it was abandoned. So H-T'ers, watch where you park your "stripped" cars!

it is because it has no county sticker or inspection sticker, technically you cannot park a car without ethier on it on a public street for over a couple of hours

Wow. My car doesn't have a county or inspection sticker either.... because they don't issue such things in Maryland. If I'm not mistaken, they don't in California either, but the lack of a VIN was probably a bigger problem (if the "Vehicle Identification" NONE on the ticket means the VIN plate was gone).

then it would be the lack of the VIN becuase county stickers and inspection stickers qualify that you have a legal VIN

Actually, I disagree with this statement too. County stickers only say that you paid $X to the county to obtain a stupid little sticker so that they don't ticket you for parking in their county. Seriously. You don't have to buy a county/city sticker, but hope you don't get busted for not having one.

Pat gets harassed by Alexandria every year about the county sticker thing, but he isn't required to have one because he's technically an Ohio resident with an expired Michigan drivers' license.... ie., he's military.

Scumba.... er, Justin, when he lived in Blacksburg, never bought a county sticker for his MGB, since it spent most of its time in the garage. Because he had some ****** for neighbors who would have reported no sticker on the Mustang, however, he did shell out the $25 for that one.

I was in the process of buying a 1988 CRX Si a couple of weeks ago. They guy had let the registration run out so I borrowed the tags from the Teg in order to drive it to my townhouse. Once I parked it (about 5pm Saturday) I removed teh tags and put them back on the Teg. On Monday I was going to return the car to the person I was buying from because it had more problems than I had money or time, but we ran into some bad weather so I wound up putting my winter tires on teh Teg instead. I finished that at around 5pm and went inside to clean up. About 30 minutes later my girlfriend comes in asks me where the car was, so I look and sure enough it was gone. I called the police to report it stolen and they infomred me that it was towed for no tags/being abandoned. $125 later I returned it to the guy, but I wasn't happy.

Actually, I'm required to have one, but I'm supposed to get it for free. Because I'm lazy and don't want to stand in line at the Alexandria city hall building, I sometimes don't get a sticker right away.

FWIW, I once got a $50 ticket for not having a city sticker (that I get for free) on my car. I got the ticket as my car sat from Sunday night-Monday morning in the darkest corner of my parking lot. And cops say they don't have quotas.

Damn. I feel sorry for you people. Do you have state income tax, too? What about emissions tests?

Yes we have state income tax, 4.5% sales tax, and we have emissions tests in the high-population counties (but no emissions test in the rural areas). However the car tax has gone down...

And on top of that... would you believe the Pantera passes emissions?! My brother's theory on this is that it ignites anything that might try to escape from the exhaust

Indeed, the car does pass emissions. Chris Acors of Acors Racing Headers (at least I believe that is the name of his company) was the most recent person to work on the car, installing a fuel pressure regulator, rejetting and tuning the carburettor, welding some spots of the headers and a slew of other tasks. While trying to dial the flames down, he put a tailpipe sniffer on the car to measure the emissions while he tested different carb settings while fine-tuning the jetting... and curiously enough, all emissions were well under the maximum limit for NoVA standards. Apparently those glowing red cats do their job.

actually isn't it a car tax by the county or city, the VIN is on the records of the county, atleast here it is, you don't just go into the county treasurer amd say I have a car in the county so give me a sticker, they sendd a notice to your house with your info on it telliing you to get a sticker by march 15. if your car is housed on public property without proper identification of where it is from or who it belongs to it can be towed. In all reality though none of us have to do anything we don't want to except eat, , and die.

And cops say they don't have quotas.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are no departmental quotas anywhere in Virginia.

However (and this confuses people about the word "quota"), your performance is evaluated in relation to the other officers in the area. One of the ways your performance is gauged, if you are a field or traffic officer, is the number of tickets and arrests.

With the population of Alexandria, it would be illogical for any first sarge to ever turn in a report that showed a reduction in traffic tickets, and it wouldn't be a good show. Not in Alexandria. Not at this time. Not with Ed driving 70 on the GW Pkwy.
george is exactly right
