AEM short ram intake question....!!!
i got a short ram aem intake for my 2001 gsr ...i also have a 97 ls teg and it was easy to install the intake... anyone have pics showing me what i hook up (hoses) to where?do i hook the hose up from the intake to where it goes to the vaule cover?and if so what do i do with the end that was going to the intake ?
I am not sure I understand your question, there should be a hose going from the valve cover top left corner (breather hose) to the raised spout looking hole on the intake. If you install it with the supplied hose, you should now have a couple of short hoses that connect to a metal tube, that is welded to another metal tube that connects 2 hoses that go from the side of the motor to the intake manifold.
They should have also supplied a longer hose to replace that tube/hose setup as well, so that you can have 2 simple hoses replacing the 4 shorter hoses that are attached to the 2 metal tubes. Follow me? I am sure that's confusing, but I don't have a diagram, although I can see it in my head.

The hose from the valve cover needs to go into the intake. This hose is used to get the gasses out of the crankcase. If you trace the hose on the stock one you will see what we are talking about. DO NOT PUT A MINI FILTER ON THE VALVE COVER INSTEAD OF A HOSE. The hose is their for a reason.

If you slap a mini filter anywhere put it onto your intake where that tube gose into. From what iev herd its actually better doing it that way but iev never noticed a difference.

You really dont need the hose that goes from the intake pipe to the intake manny all that does if for air pollution resistance. You can take it off and it will sound less ricey!
Also you should consider going with AEM cai intake it is alot better. Take off the stock AEM filter that comes with it and throw on a k & n filter! It will be a lot nicer.

Umm..the only hose i had coming from the intake was the EGR breather line, and it would be a bad idea to take it off, and dont change your AEM filter, the one that came with it is the same as the K&N if not better.
I am not sure about who makes the AEM filter anymore, it used to be K&N, but supposedly the newer ones have a better velocity stack design that K&N did not make for them. It's possible they outsourced to another company besides K&N - but it's a good quality filter either way. No need to swap out an AEM filter for a K&N.
