Default well i get to join the ranks of broken into cars

well this whole week since sunday, i rode my bike to and from school and didn't touch my car the whole time. neways i went to my car, this is around 7:45 pm, cause i was gonna go out and meet my pops for dinner. thats when i noticed that my keyless entry wasn't working. then as i got closer i noticed that my hood was propped open. when i opened it i noticed that someone stole my oil cap. then i noticed that the negative terminal to my battery was unscrewed. i soon felt the boiling in my stomach. hoping that what was happening wasn't happening.

when i put the neg terminal back on i unlocked my car and walked to the driver's side. and i noticed that my window wasn't so dark as it usually was. thats when i saw this.

the first thing i did was call my pops to let him know what was up. i imediatly was about to call the cops when the on-property police officer drove by and i flagged him down. i let him know what happened and he started up on the report. apparently they smashed my driver's side window and poped my hood then disabled my battery. then as they did that they noticed my shiney oil cap, and swiped it. along with my cd deck, escort radar detector, all my cd's (mostly burned ones), ripped the bottom of my steering collumn apart, and all of my car detailing stuff. i had planned on washing my car either today or tomarrow.....but that was thrown out of the door.

at least they left me my school parking permit and my apt gate remote and some minor things. oh and they took like 20bux in quarters and change i had for the carwash!!!! those bastards!!! if i every find out who did this i will take my 30-30 and give them a 2 min head start running and i will hunt them down like the low lifes they are! so much for the RS door handles i bought and put on. they just smashed my window instead of slim jimming the door. here's the rest of the pics

you can see here that there is a point of impact of a hard object.

sorry for lost at least no stolen car. Dayam theives go through so much just to steal a couple of petty things <Shake fist>. At least try to take the stuff clean instead of breaking the windows and other stuff. Hate it when thieves steal my emblems but don't take it clean, always taken a chunk of paint while they are taken the emblem

Is there anything device or setup you can get to make it hard to disable the battery? Like a shell or something - even if its only bolt on, something that will make this part of the job way longuer than expected and hopefully make the thieves abord the job because of the alarm screaming out loud.

you want to protect your battery run it to your back seats like bmw or even in the trunk. hondas have the lock trunk switch that can diasble unwanted people opening your trunk. this way alarm continues to sound and theives are still looking for a battery.

yeah at least you still have your car, but that still sucks, looks like they were gonna try and take it though looking at that ignition.

That's one thing about relocation of batteries...They have to be vented outside.

Another safety precaution is to have a backup siren. This way, when they take out the negative cable to disable the main one, the other alarm will go off (one that has its own battery).

Putting a sealed battery in the trunk is a good idea. This should give you a few extra seconds until they figure out where it is. If someone is determined to get your car, they will, but hopefully this would stop the smash and run types.

If they cracked the key solenoid under the dash and your car insurance isn't covering it, just let me know. You have to get a new key solenoid, its the silver thing, but I found out how to swap the guts so you can still retain your current key.
If they got to the point of getting into your steering column it looks like they were going to take the car but must have gotten scared away. At least you're lucky for that.

I think you are pretty lucky. I suspect it's just a bunch of kids who wanted your stereo/CD's/radar detector. Someone who knew what they were doing and wanted your car wouldn't have broken the window. There are faster and easier ways to get into Hondas.

At least you still have your car.
