Getting ARP Rod Bolts to Fit LS Rods
I have the arp rod bolts, tryin to get the last few mind bugs out before I begin my build. How did you do yours? Can they be hammered in or.... whose got some ideas? Besides take it to a machine shop
You must take them to a machine shop. Once the rod bolts are pressed in, the big end will need to be resized. It's fairly inexpensive

yea, most ppl overlook this when they upgrade to arp rod bolts, u need to resize the big end because of the differnt trq required by the arps.

So once they're pressed in, then they get resized? Can I just resize them myself? My buddy has got a machine shop. Is there a lil more detail description on sizes and how this is done? Thanks alot!

you have to machine the caps down; torque down the nuts and hone the rod round.
to install the rod bolts you dont need a press though. take the old ones out, put the arp's in(wich wont go all the way in), put the cap in and thighten the nut; that way they seat

Exactly.
By saying "resized", I meant being made round again. The new rod bolts may distort the roundness of the rods ever so slightly so, you machine them to correct that.

sorry to be a pain... so... i still don't understand, i do but i don't. Do i tighten them, then take it back apart and take it to a shop to make sure they're sized correctly (the rod cap)? this is the last piece of information i'm missing before i start the build. Thanks!
