Default Anyone know a good place to have bottom end balanced?

Im buiding up a LS vtec and im wondering where would be a good place to have it all (rods, pistons, and crank) balanced? Should I even have it balanced? Im not revving it over 8600 and im using Type R pistons, LS rods with ARP bolts and a LS crank. Thanks for input. J

it would be a good idea to balance everything, any machine shop can do it for you

I would agree with getting your rotating assembly
balanced. As for a good machine shop, all you have to
do is ask some simple questions.
1st: What machine do they use? Sunnen Makes a quality machine.
2nd: What do they balance to? ie 1/4 ounce/inch, 1/2 ounce/inch
and 3/4 ounce/inch. If the shop does not know what you are talking about, find another shop. 1/4 is used on all out race and many high performance street engines, and is the industry standard for balance.
I hope you have good luck with your project.

We have one machine shop in town. They are really good but the guy seems to only know how to do V8s. I say honda and then they say I dont know if I can do that. They dont have a balancing machine there either. Should I send the whole bottom end off to be balanced together. Or should I balance the rods then the pistons then have the crank balanced?

You need to have your crank, 1 rod with fastners , 1 piston, 1 pin, 1 set of rings,1 set of locks, and 1 set of rod bearings together when you get your crank balanced. When the shop gets your components they will calculate your bob weight for that particular combination and balance your crank to that setup.
