i checked for an exhaust leak but couldn't find any. this only happens when i gas it. if i let go of the gas pedal, the noise is gone. what should i start looking for?

 

Did you check the header? If its stock, you won't see the crack under the heat shield.

 

i checked the header but didn't see anything. i don't have a heat shield on it. i was too lazy to put it back on when i swapped my head.

 

what kind of swap did you do?

 

Besides the manifold, did you check the rest of the exhaust for leaks?

yeah, i checked everywhere. sound is coming from the engine bay for sure though.

um.. power steering belt on my civic came loose. made a nasty noise that sounded like sputtering.

 

plugs, wires, cap, rotor fixed the same prob for me.

all these i got replaced recently.

i don't have power steering but can my alternator belt cause this?

 

does your engine seem down on power? or is it just a noise?

 

I would imagine so. I dont think the sound had as much to do with the power steering as it did the way the pulley was angled.

 

engine seems to be the same. no power loss. just noise.

amn it sounds like your screwed. i hate it when you hear noises when your driving that your cant hear when you sit still. it makes it a lot harder to inspect the problem. did you install light weight or underdrive pulleys?
