Default JDM ITR Exhaust on my '98 GS-R ... SEARCHED and need confirmation

Yes, I already searched and merely need to confirm some stuff before shelling out the dough. I recently switched from a '97 EJ8 to a '98 GS-R, which is why my name probably isn't familiar around here. Anyway, I'm looking to put a JDM ITR exhaust on and came across an archived thread while searching. To confirm. . . .

*a JDM ITR exhaust will bolt up to all '94-'99 GS-Rs without modification to the piping
*the creator of that thread I linked to said he had to have the flange holes on his JDM ITR exhaust enlarged to work with his cat. I'm guessing everyone else has to do the same, no? I haven't read of anyone else who did this, which is why I ask.

Thanks.

the jdm itr axle back will bolt right up to ur stock b pipe, but if u wanna use the jdm b pipe the flange has to be enlarged to fit with ur cat. i just drilled to enlarge the holes on the jdm b pipe. my b pipe also had to be shorten because it was 2 inches to long but this was fitted on my LS im not too sure if your stock setup is the same or not.. hth

hey i have this setup on my 94 gsr- jdm itr header and cat spoon bpipe and axelback. if you want to use only the car back you will need to shorten the bpipe. if you decide that you want to use the cat as well (2.5 inch and about half the length of the usdm piece) you will need to extend the bpipe about a half inch. to make everything fit with no modification you need the jdm length exhaust, cat, and headers. hope this answeres your question-

My JDM ITR ('98 Spec) Mugen exhaust was the correct length for my '97 GSR. Like mentioned, I had to enlarge the holes in the B-pipe because the US catalytic converter outlet is smaller than the JDM version. This results in a slight step-up in pipe diameter after the catalytic converter. The gasket still seals with the larger B-pipe.
