Alright i may be coming up on like $2-3000.
Im contemplating either turboing my car or just getting a stock GSR swap.
This is my only car, i drive it everyday, and i dont really want to have any problems
Which would you choose? I want the car to be fun while maintaining the reliability factor.

yea but w/ a stock gsr theres always more room to upgrade, like say u come up on another 2-3000, then u have a bseries turbo, almost double the turboed d. and plus n/a motors get more respect if u dont want a turboed gsr, atleast from me. take the gsr youll be happier in the end

I know i can probably piece together a decent turbo kit for around $1000-$1500.
Where on the other hand, i can get a stock GSR swap for around $3000 installed.
Then i would need to replace the timing belt, oil pump, water pump, new clutch etc.
Is it worth swapping the car? what do u think.. especially involving my money situation...

If you really don't want to mess with reliability then just stick with the GSR engine.

With FI always comes more tuning and reliability. There are tons of debates out there like this though. Just try searching the archives.

ya and since this dude isnt a baller like some people, id say u wont have extra money for tuning to keep it reliable, then it goes boom and u put out more money for a new block. thats y im not getting a turbo.

well the dseries engines are a dime a dozen, if you tune the turbo setup well and the installation/parts or good it will be just as reliable as a stock motor, you may have to keep up on maintenance more, but otherwise you shouldnt deal with any other problems. TUNING IS KEY

There are good arguments both ways, I ended up going with turbo d myself, for a number of reasons...
Here are a few:
- I already had a d16z6 in my car
- I could peice together a decent turbo kit for it for less than $1500
- I would have extra money left over to spend on a good tune and extra parts if needed
- I would make more power than a b18c1
- Boost is more fun to drive
- I could always build my engine in the future if I wanted to turn up the boost a bit
I also knew that if I got a GSR I would end up dumping more and more money into it in the end because I would want to go turbo etc.... I didn't want to do that...
Don't underestimate the turbo d, it's reliable if tuned well, and is very quick...look at BBKA, 12.6 in a coupe with a stock d16z6-T...
