For shorter gear ratio's, should an si tranny be put in or an ITR. If the si tranny is better, is there special mounting procedures? i.e. new mounts, clutch, pressure plate, etc.

Get the R tranny. The Si tranny has the same gearing as the R but it has a limited slip differential, which is worth it's weight in gold!
BTW, it'll mount up with no problems or modifications needed.

Or for the same price as an ITR tranny get a SI one with an aftermarket LSD, and while your at it, might was well put the JDM final drive in too. Just a thought

If i could find a know a good R tranny for a good price,is there any issues with this install, alot of people complain about problems there having such as winding problems coming from it,flywheel problems any info?Because although i like tackin 3rd to 95 MPH,it does take forever to wind it out.
I wouldn't run a USDM tranny from a 99-00 civic Si if it was given to me.
I heard there were manufacturing problems at the US plant and that the synchros were installed improperly.
I personally would love to have an LSD, but I do too much cruising at 75-80 to have the type R final drive. There is nothing wrong with the GSR gearing, as long as you are in the correct gear to begin with each shift should keep you in VTEC.

In VTEC yes, but can you keep the secondary intake runners open on the 1-2 shift with a GSR tranny...nope.
so the itr tranny bolts right up w/out any modfications? does the itr tranny come equipped w/ a oem lsd? and where can i buy one and how much?

Um, i think that rumor is just that, a rumor. I have a 99 si tranny in my GSR with a quaife and its fine. I beat the hell out of that tranny too, not a single problem for 7k miles.
The LSD from the ITR's isn't worth "writing home" about. Quaife if you're that serious about a quality LSD. If you have the $$ for a Quaife, go ahead and get a more aggressive clutch and lightened flywheel. If not, another GSR tranny would be fine.
actually there have been quite a few fellow Si owners that have grinding gears or just plain flat out shot syncros, There are a lot of people going to the dealer with this problem, as for me, mine has been fine so far (29000 miles)
guys,is there any difference in the feel of the shifter itself between the SI,GSR,and R?My GSR shifts like butter, its one of the better feeling shifters I've drivin.
