Problem with 93 Accord LX with JDM H22
I have a 93 accord lx with a 94 h22 engine from Japan. Lately when it is idling the RPMs have been dropping to around 400-500, but not all of the time. Another problem that seems to be related is when I give it gas, it sputters until I push the gas pedal down even more, and then it jolts forward and the problem seems to go away until the RPMs drop again. It never seems to happen when the RPMs are above 5000. Please let me know if anyone has any suggestions. Thank You!

any check engine lights? sounds like tps or map sensor and of course distributor (because hondas are notorious for shytty dist.)
There are no check engine lights. I replaced the MAP sensor about 2 months ago, and my understanding is that the tps will throw a trouble code if it's bad. I hope that helps clear some more things up. Thanks for your suggestions!
Hey i had a similar problem with my last car, a 95 Lude Si with an H23. I was told it was a bad or clogged Idle Air Control valve, and that it was a common problem among ludes and accords with the H and F series motors. However, I just cleaned the throttle body and intake manifold with some spray cleaner and the problem went away. Hope this might help ~Jamie
I used some kinda throttle-body cleaner, kinda like Gumout but for fuel-injected cars. I don't remember the name of the stuff. I got it from the parts department at the Honda dealership where i used to work. Good luck, hope this helps. ~Jamie
