my friend has a 97 ex the motor its vtec ok now we were under the impression that there was something funny about the car and that the vtec wasnt working now we unplugged the solenoid usaully the check engine light is supposed to turn on but it doesnt next we checked the volts on the solenoid with just the ignition on and it read 12.8 how is that possible if the car isnt even on, it seems like the vtec is on at all times and when u turn the car on it still reads 12.8 wich is funny so we challenged our doubts and we did the same procedure on my cuzins 93 si and the volt meter read 2.7 round there with jus ignition and when we turned the car on it read the same thng so we unplugged the solenoid and the check engine light came on thats how its supposed to be now, that was on the si whats going on with the ex???

 

Maybe a bad solenoid? Any mods to the car where something could have been messed up during installation, wiring or such?
