I think wet sanding would be the last thing you want to try.

What I would do is first go out and buy some Mequiar's Clear Coat Prep/Swirl Reducer. This may help remove some oxidation if it is paint oxidation causing the problem. I would use a random-orbital polisher made for waxing cars to apply this -- much easer and better results than by hand.

If this doesn't work, you could try a clay bar, and then move up in abrasives from there -- but a wet sanding should be one of the very last things to try. Also, a local auto detailer/paint shop may be able to help you diagnose the issues you're having.

In addition, I would use high quality washes/waxes/etc on your paint -- nothing like dish soap, or cheap $1.99 a bottle liquid car wax.

Hope this helps!

After a while its not a bad idea to wet sand a car and have it compounded and such. it can bring paint back to life. you problay only need a buff though by a really awesome detailer...search around and ask who is the best in the area and let them have at it. good luck
