personally, I don't think any kind of short shifter is a good mod. I know this is a personal opinion, I just don't think thats the first place to start making your car faster if thats your intention. So little to gain for the price.
Dont buy ANYTHING from APC. Friend bought an APC short shifter off ebay for his 99 Si like 2 years ago. About 3 months after he had it the damn thing broke an inch down from the shift **** when he shifted
Made of very cheap quality materials just like a lotta other **** they make.
If i were to get a short shifter, go with a good brand (Skunk 2, B&M, Etc.)
Rule of thumb, Dont buy anything from APC, 3A Racing, or Matrix.
Personally, instead of getting a short shifter, to start it off i'd get a K&N Drop in filter and also remove the airbox resonator. After that, a decent header, highflow cat, and catback exhaust to start off.

honda-tech has many write-ups on short shifters. if you do your research you'll find which works best for the dollar spent and most importantly your cause.

I bought a skunk2 dual bend clone from city-speed.com. I had it on my last car (94 gsr) and it shifted great. My only complaint was the fitment on the underside w/ the shift linkage. I had to put washers on either side of the handle to take up the gaps. This sounds like a common issue w/ short sifters on 3rd gen tegs, though.
