WTH my Ninja is overheating again
It did this when it had 150 miles and is doing the same now with 300 miles. The temp gauge gets close to the overheated mark(a bar space or 2 before the too hot mark) and as soon as its off it turns the fans on by itself.. I did not fool around with it today but last time I started it without a cap on the radiator and idled for a few seconds and it was normal after that...

heh. its a ninja 250, its only got a simple needle gauge.
smart to keep it out of the red. did you bleed the coolant system? i guess thats why you had the cap off? its brand new? are the fans turning on automatically or only when you cycle power?

Im not exactly sure when the thing is overheating on you..
If it overheats when your riding:
Either air in the system, or a sticky thermostat.
If the only problem is the fans not turning on when they should:
Replace the thermoswitch.

Well I took the cap off and let it idle reinstalled the cap on the radiator and it was normal... But now its starting to do it again. As for coolant its full in the radiator and reservoir. The fans turn on after I turn off the bike, not while its idling

you got a bubble trapped in the coolant system, so water isn't circulating. completely drain coolant, flush using running water (water hose), and add fresh coolant.
Is the volt meter for checking temp? If so I have a laser temp gun(for my RC's which I use) and a Temp probe -temp gauge with a wire/sensor

If it only has 300 miles, take it back to the dealership.

I see that you're in Torrance. Take it to Mach 1 in Costa Mesa? New Port? Anywho, they take care of people well.

If you only have 300 miles, it would be free, thats what the warranty is for.

It's either a air bubble in your coolent system or a faulty thermostat that's stuck closed.
Take it into the dealership like the others have said. I believe all kawasaki bikes come with 1 year factory warrenty.
If you plan on keeping this bike you might want to get the extended good times warranty.. well worth the money

did you fill the coolant at all? If so did you fill the reservoir or the radiator? If you filled the res. then you have air trapped inbetween the res. and the rad. therfore causing you to overheat.

No, the voltmeter is for testing continuity of the thermoswitch. Its basically a temperature operated on/off switch.

It's topped off on both. It was never to the full mark on the reservoir when I got it so I added some fluid to it to be on the F.. I'll try bleedling out the system on friday..
