cv joint halfshaft removal issues
so i'm going along fine until i get to the part where the hub is supposed to lift off the lower steering arm and swing out from the vehicle. it's not. not even close. is there a trick to getting the hub off the steering assemble so that i can remove the halfshaft?! it looks so straight forward, but afterall, i'm blonde... and female...any suggestions?
Is that a ball joint? You can get a tool to "pry" the joint loose, or you can sometimes hit it just right with a hammer and get it to let loose...

assuming you already have the 36mm axle nut off, you need to seperate the lower balljoint from the lower arm. take the cotter pin and castle nut off the ball joint and then separate the ball joint from the lower arm. you dont need a special balljoint remover just use a 1/2'' ratchet do this https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=887859
after that just stick a flat head between the tranny and the axle and pry it out.

thanks for the advice. i ended up removing the lower arm from the rods to swing the hub AND lower arm. that ball joint just wasn't gonna let go. all that junk under there is siezed up good from road grime, i suppose. it's a 97 accord lx with 110k. great car!
yes, i'm really blonde (and unfortunately, i think everything they say about blondes being spacey is true).
so i've hit another brick wall with this cv joint project. is there any reason that the transaxle would be locked onto the drivers side cv joint? i can't separate them for the life of me. i'm thinking about wrapping a loop of chain to it and pulling it out (carefully) with a damn comealong! I've tried prying with various crowbars, and even hammering chisels, but it won't budge!
by the way, this is a 1997 accord lx, manual transmission without abs brakes and 110K miles.
