Need help, how do you get a 98 GSR cluster to work in a 94 GSR? ABS light on
I have 94 Canadian GSR cluster. I bought a OBD II USDM cluster thinking it was an OBD I. Is there anyway to get this cluster to work in a 94 GSR. I tried swapping the green film on the back, everything works except for the ABS light which stays on. I did notice that the green film from my OBD I film is missing a light bulb socket in the OBD II cluster? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I guess I will have to find another OBD I cluster or rewire?
Are you sure? I got everything to work except for the ABS light when I switched the film. I assume the ABS light could be rewired? I am wondering if anyone else would know. It looks like the ABS and SRS light are combined on the OBD II cluster and they are separate on the OBD I?
the last i hear they didnt work cause my friend bought a 98 itr cluster for his 96 gsr and it didnt work but mayb the itr cluster was bad.

I guess if you pull the bulb or yank it out of the circuit board, you then lose the abs light as a check signal.... I'll have to consider it if I don't find another cluster. It's been tough driving around with a CDN cluster and always having to remember to convert...
Thanks for the info, I will need to call you to discuss my rebuild.

I've seen this problem too. I believe it's because the pin outs are different on the newer clusters. Does the light go off when you fasten the seat belt? If I recall correctly, that was what the difference was: the seat belt and ABS light circuit pins were switched. It was a while ago. The memory's a bit foggie.
When you swapped the film, did you swap the two right icon clusters? Does the ABS light go on when your door is open? Just swap the gauge faces into your 94 housing. reset the abs light if it stays on.
After I swapped films the ABS light stays on regardless if the door is open or not. I think it is because the ABS light on 98 and up clusters is now on a separate board with the SRS light so the only way to get it to work may be to rewire...
you don't need to rewire. the pin-outs are just different. i have a '95 cluster in my '99 and all i had to do was swap the pin-outs between the ABS and the seatbelt light if i remember correctly.
