Sister's Accord EX motor seized. No oil. What are her options.
My sister drove her 90 accord ex while it was low on oil again and this time it really got fucked up. she said that the rpm's just dropped and the car shut off. When I got there, there was a tiny little bit of oil on the bottom of dipstick, it was very very dark. I popped oil cap and it smelt like ****. Im guessing something seized up. My Mom and sister are freaking out. I convinced my mom to not get it towed to a shop and to get it towed here instead. When I tried to crank it, it would crank, but not catch. I added oil and it still would not start. I could not see smoke coming out of oil cap while I cranked it.
Tomorrow Im going to drain oil and see how it looks. What should I look for to help with diagnosis.
What is the best option at this point? Preferably most affordable. Would it be easiset to just get a new bottom end? I have no clue what motor is in it, 90 accord ex. how much would i look at spending? Would it be more worthwile to get rid of it and just get another old honda?
Car had 170k or so miles on it. Got a timing belt job about 30k miles ago or so, so i dont think that is the problem.
thanks for help

Since Honda made so many of them, they are a dime a dozen. I've seen any where from $100-$300 for a used engine. Newer low mileage engines are a little more. An of course you can also rebuild your old engine in a event that the seized engine can be repaired which that could cost in the $500-$1000 range.
