I think there was an issue where on the S, water somehow drips onto the AEM's filter when it rains or when you wash the car. People have made umbrellas for it. I had an AEM on my Lude and drove through water up to my bumper. That bypass valve saved my ***. Funny thing is it happened on my way home after I put the valave on.
there is one water drain hole that you need to plug.. it's on the passenger side right near the cross beam i think... i dont' remember exactly but i can take a picture of it tomorrow..
i have heard that water will rest in the fender well where the AEM intake sits and soak the intake in some cases.
personally i dont car for hydro lock, it takes a number to do it to a car. i had an eclipse before my S with a AEM CAI, and i drove through the biggest puddles and had no trouble at all.

the by-pass makes you lose hp..... well i would at least think it does... i mean if you look at it, it's a piece of foam that seperates the two pieces of piping. i would think soon as the air passes though this point it would get distorted and junks......
and as for what francesco says about the watter resting in the fender well, i haven't heard of that before but if it does, then just poke a couple of holes on the bottom of it hehehe
problem solved

not if you do it right..... you poke holes from the inside, leave the little cone type thing there instead of cutting it off.. so it'll have a little tip at the end where the water will escape.. it'll work like a vortex/whirlpool type effect.... water won't be able to come into it and if it does it'll be very little... but watter coming out of it will be easy.... somewhat presureized...
i got the 4ig..... hehehe. pretty much the same as the injen.. and no i haven't instaleld it yet... still at my buddies house getting painted.... he gf had a baby the other day......
so i gotta wait a little longer hehehe...
