Default CV Boot Replacement Help Needed

Hello everyone,

I've just come back home from travelling and my CV boots STILL have not been replaced. I have the boot kits from Honda in my room, but I'm too lazy (and kind of scared) to do the install. I think i'm going to have to buy a new driveaxle for my right side b/c that boot has been dead for a while now. If you know anyone that will help me/show me the install (i have 2 repair manuals!...i was quite zealous about fixing my own car before!) I would really appreciate it. I'm willing to pay for your instruction/guidance too! I'm in the South Bay Los Angeles area. Please email me at jadedasn0524@yahoo.com if you'd like to help a fellow CRX owner out! Thanks!

pretty easy...not too much involved. I would personally not waste my time w/ the boot and just replace the entire axle....its pretty much just taking the hub nut off, unbolting the strut fork and the lower ball joint and yanking the axles out....

Its a little scary to do your first time, but doable. You need a few specific tools, like a 2 jaw puller to get, I think it was the balljoint apart, a hugeass ratchet and breaker bar(technical term), impact driver, and or wrench(these two really help, but if your lucky, not necessary). Pry bar, 17mm and 14mm sockets and wreches, assorted screwdrivers, and other stuff. The biggest pain in the *** was getting the hub off, I think it was a 21mm socket, and you have to pry back a little lip thing that is bent in against the nut to hold it in place, than, we were literally throwing all of our weight on the breaker bar, and attacking it to get it. Also, penetrating fluid will help tons.

its actually a 32mm socket!

and you dont necessarily need a puller for the ball joint....just wack the side of the lca a couple times and it'll pop out...

ya, I knew it was a huge ****, we had 1.5" driver or something, and I wasn't sure what it was in metric. I don't convert the mms and inches too well..haha.

You people and removing your balljoints every time you touch your axles . That's wayyyy too much work for me, you'll never catch me popping a ball joint like that!
