Default Chinatown Showoff

I have been reading a few of the threads here and it seems as tho I can't post in some of them...I know this is a little off topic but since I can't post there I figured I'd start a new thread here.

There seems to be a lot of S2k hating going on so I wanted to say my $.02.

I wanted to congrat all the winners at the show. I give a to all the Honda's. First and Second went to Civics and third went to a Del Sol. But I also wanted to remind all the Civic owners that a S2K took home JDM Showoff.

I heard some of the S2K owners who attended this car show were upset when a few of the Civics came in first and second in the Honda class? It was said that the S2K owners had taken other people's reserved spots before the start of the show? Can you give us some insight into this?

Not that I give a **** either way, I think these import car shows are stupid! I just wanted to know what went on.

I really am not sure about the mix ups. There are always going to be something that comes up that someone's not going to like. There isn't really that much space and to try and get 200 cars into it, it has to be pretty tough.

i got nuthing but luv for all hondas!
i used to have a hybrid putting down alotta power built by erick himself of ericks racing. i dynoed at around 210 whp w/ all honda parts in a hatch.
never got to finish it cause i sold it, so its not like i dislike hatches etc. i jus dont see a point where these guys(not all) come off as if there car is far superior than mine when there is a major cost diffrence etc.
this is my own personal opinion based on what ive experienced and have seen

what happened was they overbooked the event....and the s2000 owners became cry babies about the spots and didn't want to move because they took mine and 2 other guys who came to represent techlogex....so they spilt us to another spot. i'm happy that matt (1st place honda), jonah (2nd place honda), and noel (3rd place honda) took the WHOLE honda class.....even without knowing any of the judges personally....just to show it doesn't take a car whored out with SPOON parts or sponsered parts to take home a trophy. it took creativity and originality at it's finest. these guys are everyday normal guys who worked hard for every part they have on their car.

i'm not flaming anyone...and not dissing the s2000's either...i was in awe about the parts they had on their cars but it's all been done before and seen a million times you know? but i had no clue the results came out the way they did because it's crazy to judge and civic against a s2000...it's like putting a integra in the same class as a nsx. matt, jonah, and noel were all surprised they even won....but again it's all in the judges eyes.

Congratulations to the JDM showoff winner.
Props to anyone that walked away with something at Chinatown, I really don't care if you own a Civic, S2000, CRX, whatever, if you have a nice car in my eyes, I'll give you props.

As far as the organization, I don't think I've ever been to a car show that didn't have issues with space and placing cars in certain areas. When I set up a booth in the vendor area of shows, and I'm selling my product, I never have a problem, maybe because the booth that I purchase, is much more money than a display or competition spot. As far as competing, I pretty much expect issues with space, that's the way it goes. I fully expect people to compain, as they spent their hard earned money to attend, and are being told they can't park and set up.

that is the whole purpose of buying this car. I paid 30k for a track car not a show car

i realize that doesn't say alot but hey that's how car shows are. you can't overall say this car is better then that car because eveyone's opinions and views are different. in reality it's all politics!!! i personally didn't enter the show to win, hell i didn't even fill out my registation form. but it's fun to go there to see what people think and their reactions....and most importantly hang out with everyone. but congrats to everyone who did end taking home a trophy

Dude is this a bash on ernies s2ooo ?

Don't get me wrong I love the whole JDM scene but it's starting to get played, they are the same looking cars, just with different colors. There isn't that much creativity invloved in making a "JDM" civic, I think the hardest part is choosing the color of the car and seeing how old of a rim you can find for your car. Thats it!

But I am glad to see that a Sol won 3rd, they dont get that much love.

You are very true it is politics, thats why I stopped showing my civic 3 years ago and started racing it. Now with my S it's different, instead of them saying nice car, they say I can beat that overpriced car, and I'm like thats good for you ! But with my civic, the same people see the front mount and and want to talk for days about the set up and everything else. I don't get it !

i don't know about that man, the money they spend on their civics, I'm pretty sure they can come up with a monthly for an S.

well they save for parts and then spend it on parts.. unlike us where we saved and bought the car.. and now we spend on parts....

either way i would take my S over my civic as a platform any day...
