can i convert yamaha yzf to r6 looks?
ok just got my first bike, a 2000 yamaha yzf, blue and white color. i was wondering if i can do some sort of conversion like the rear tail light or seat/fairings to look like the r6 style so it'd be sharper looking. any ideas?

if it is your first bike yuo'll prob drop it
put frame sliders on your bike and save the money on fairings for a new bike...a set of fairings, tail etc are gonna be pricy...

yeah man save money and buy a 1000cc bike. i got the same bike,a black 2002 yzf 600r and im be wanting a 1000cc bike now. its my first bike also. the only thing i modded on the bike was the rear fender. (you know the piece that holds the license plate. i just trim it a little. i didnt like how it was sticking out to the tire.
i think the tail can be done easily, and cheaply.front end is a lot more dificult, time consuming, and expensive. if you do the tail it will probably sell faster when you upgrade to your next bike. good luck

someone asked a similar question in another thread and i posted some pics. i know of a couple people that have gone through the trouble of getting an r6 rear subframe and welding it on along with the whole r6 rear section fairings, seat, and tail light. or you can just do an r6 undertail mod for under $100.
you can find 99-02 r6 undertail/taillights on ebay for relatively cheap. and with some trimming, it should fit. i posted pics in the other thread if you can find it. or check out http://www.yzf600r.com
the tail, taillights, underfender, and both seats from a 99-03 will fit. The tank wont, but your tank looks good already. For the front, i'm not sure.
Im putting the whole tail assembly from an 03 R6, a tank from a 03 YZF600, and an 03 YZF600 front cowl/headlight assembly on my 90 FZR600 ... it all fits on my bike with little work, so the same should go for your bike for the tail assembly.
Here's a how to for my bike on the tail .. it will be very similar for yours.
For the person who said it will never look like an R6 ..

That's a 16 year old bike... same bike as me, with the same cosmetic changes i'm doing (listed above). Almost everyone who sees it can only guess it's an R6. Yes, it doesn't look like an R6 (mainly cause the front) .. but remember its a 16 year old bike. You can probly make yours look alot closer.
I'd say keep your bike and do it. Dont listen to the people saying you need a 1000cc bike. Also, i paid $500 for all my body pieces off eBay .. including an aftermarket windscreen and fender eliminator kit.
