Hey guys Im wondering if theres a way I can tell if a tranny is bad without actually putting it on a car and driving it. And if it looks okay from the outside

I guess you could put an axle in it and spin it by hand and shift it into gears and listen for grinding? ::shrugs::

well if you can't take it apart to inspect all the "important" parts, i would just make sure the outside was nice and shiny jfwy

honestly, "never judge a book by its cover"

i usually use a punch or something and stick it in the pinhole and try shifting it by hand...going threw all the gears and if it goes smoothly but if it's a pain in some gears You'll wanna try shifting it hard and fast to as if you were racing...some tranny's won't grind unless it's shifted hard
