Ok guys my brother just bought him a 98 ITR and its 100% Stock.... He wants to know how it will perform through an auto-x event as far as the stock suspension.... Pro's and Con's.... Goods and Bads...advantages and disadvantages..ect... thanks guys.... This is asking for members opinions, Not for flaming.....TIA
It will freakin ROCK.
ITR has many DS National championships, and is arguably still the car to beat in D-Stock.

My recommendation: Just try it, just the way it is!

He hopes so.... He is so excited he got one.. He's just really anxious/nervous about his first event.... I have Spoon suspension which came with my ITR so I dunno what to tell him other than it'll do fine....
From what I have heard, the stock suspension is perfect. The car is already very balanced, and shouldn't really need any different suspension.
Of course I have different shocks and springs, but the car should handle just like it should, perfect

Let's not get carried away. There is no doubt that the out of the box suspension on the ITR is freakin' fantastic but it is not perfect and can certainly be improved upon. All those DS national championships were not won on stock dampers I would bet....

haha... somehow, i think you're right.
just a bit of body roll here, 100% stock. some negative camber would be nice

IMO, it'd be better to learn to feel the car at the autox with stock suspension so you can get to know the car.

How many miles on it?
I'd guess it's not really in stock/showroom condition on the suspension at this point in time, is it. Hmmmm!</TD></TR></TABLE>
It has 41,000 on the clock and was purchased from the original owner who was in his late 40's.... Not to mention it was garaged it's entire span with the previous owner....

I've autoxed my ITR for the last 3 years on 100% stock suspension. The car is very competitive locally (only slowed down by the driver).
If he's fairly new to autox, I wouldn't change a thing.
FWIW, most of the (DS) nationally competitive ITRs I know of, including the current national champion, are on revalved Konis.

Theres no doubt that the car is competent when new and stock but Ed's point is along my line of thought.

In that case then it's broken-in and possibly a bit loose but nothing to worry about and no reason to do any drastic changes/upgrades till he drives at least a handful of autocrosses to figure out the cars normal characteristics or flaws.

Pro: The stock suspension works fine and will hold its own against rivals in the class.
Con: The ITR is a fwd car, the stock setup will suffer from understeer through certain corners.

Been running revalved yellows and stock susp. for 2+ years, its been a great learning platform. This year its time for some GC's.
If you do upgrade anything, get some adjustable shocks.

Depends on what your tolerance is
Yes they are much, much firmer than stock, but certainly tolerable, IMO
