Found this post on http://www.saturnmotorsports.com forum, if so congrats
"I saw Gary and the new Cobalt last night at Bradenton Motorsports Park. They were testing out the new drag car. It is very impressive so far. they ran a "glitchy" 8.06 @ 171 , and it looks like they have room to better their times.
Look for them to do very well this season if they get the Cobalt dialed in."

Right on!! Good for Gary!! I hope he gets all the "glitches" worked out and crack the seven on his first outing to the season openners! Goes to show Gary is truely awesome at anything he does, if wasn't just a honda thing, the technology applies everywhere.
the new car is running an auto. Basically Marty's car with a Cobalt body. GM and Gardella. Championship in the bag for sure as well as phenomenal times. Congrats Gary for a guaranteed stellar year. With Gardella excellent driving skills and GM's R & D with the J Body platform and Ecotec hp you can't go wrong.
I think the only one that will give Gary problems is Ron Lummus. Bothwell is a pathologically insane, driven and passionate competitor. Of course Steve,........... that is with the most deepest respect for you. Heheheheheh.

You don't just win a championship on a record setting blast you gotta get down the track every round.
The fastest car doesn't always win, I speak from experience. Sometimes if the race comes together for the right people at the right time, the finals can be two little know guys with alot of heart race'n for the W. Remember Dallas 03 Earl? thats proply the best racing memory I have.
Props to Gary and his crew if the times legit
I guess not having the slipper isn't going to slow everybody down

Funny you mention that because when Battle of the Imports first started back in 1991(I believe) a Pinto was dominating that class, Turbo Joe Morgan. The imports tried to protest him since he was driving a Ford Pinto BUT he was able to make an argument that is was an Import because it was manufactured in Mexico!!! LOL! He drives or drove a FAST *** Focus station wagon still using the same old 2.3 Liter SOHC old school ( I believe) SVO Ford turbo 4 cylinder motor.
But back to Gary G MAD PROPS on testing the new chassis, he should be DOMINATING or on top of this class!

as long as gary does'nt fall in with the 5 nhra 5 nopi that GM will do then he has a great chance at winning the class, (selected NHRA & NDRA was the posted story.
saw the pass in pearson it was about 48 deg out the car was either bouncing the limiter or breaking up on that pass so there is pleanty of room to go faster i say 7.80s 0r 70s at the first race
