Default OMG!!! Check out my latest addition in advanced camera technology!!!

Yeah right, if we were in 1975!

While talking about cameras with my dad he told me about his old Minolta that is probably out in the garage. After looking for 10 minutes we found his camera and lens that is no lie, older than I am. I think he got it in '75, not sure though....

Camera was is perfect shape. I cleaned the lenses and the reflective mirrors, but it needs to be disassembled and cleaned inside of the lenses. All I had to do was replace the battery for the apature and grab some film and the apature meter seemed to be working fine.

I currently have a Fuji Finepix s5100, but I think I will use this camera to actually learn photography, and hone my skills. Maybe upgrade to a DSLR before my cruise this summer. Anyways here it is...

Nice. So it works after replacing the battery and grabbing some film for it?

I was wondering if it is a collectible. Very mint condition, lenses just need to be disassebled and cleaned really good. Damn thing weighs like 5 lbs. All metal, no bullshit plastic like all of today's cameras.

Thats a good price, mine was $400 all together and I also got a 256mb card. I really like my camera. I think it is a really good camera to learn on, easy to use features. The manual focus feature is a little annoying, but I live with it. These pics were taken with my S5100. I think the best feature is the macro. Fuji seems to do macro really nicely.

thanks for the info. i been using a 3.2 point n shoot fuji w/ almost NO manual settings. i dont really wanna dive straight into a D-SLR, so i figure an SLR-like would be a good base to learn off.

that camera does look hella OG tho. its older than i am haha

thats a GREAT piece of machinery to truly learn the art of photography on. get familiar and know everything about using that camera before you ever consider a DSLR.

I'm not sure if it is considered at SLR since it uses digital screens, so you don't actually see what is going through the lens. But good luck, none the less.

Thanks for the advice, and that is the reason for me putting down the FUJI for awhile. To actually learn TRUE old skool photography. My dad bought this when he got into Porsches. I'm using this as a starting point before I go DSLR.

it`s considered as SLR- like meaning its not an SLR, but i guess the shape and style, and the way it can use lens adapters makes it almost an SLR? iono thats how its categorized on dpreview. thanks again for your info and good luck with that OG camera. are u also gonna try developing your own pics? i took a class in highschool, its pretty bad ***.

I was thinking about turning our spare room into a dark room. My girl took classes in high school, and still has some paper. She mentioned it to me, and I am seriously considering it.

The rewards of working in a darkroom and actually making your own photos FAR outweigh ps'ing a digital photo.

Sorry bro, can't sell it now. Going to be using it for a while, and I'm thinking about keeping it as a collector.

I can't stop playing with the damn thing. Just waiting to actually taking some pics.

My Gf who works for Best buy in the Digital Imaging dept (cameras) said Nikon and Canon are the best cameras in the digital field (for the brands they carry). Nikon and Canon is the only company that uses Glass lenses for ALL thier digital cameras unlike some companys that use plastic lens on thier $300 down cams unless it states that they use a special lense like the carl zeis. Most people don't know that and most people who sell cams don't know that unless if you go to a mom and pop shop who has emps that been working there for like 20 yrs. the other companys use plastic lens to reduce costs

Thats what i learned from thier dept. hahah my gf is funny she'd be pointing at peoples cams and she knows all the specs and would say if its shitty or not. unless if its fam den she be like "ohhh thats a pretty good camera" when its really not LOL of corse digital will never compare to film but they getting thier those digi SLRs are pimp.
