lookin to do my brakes
i was lookin get something better than OEM for a change and i like the PowerStop Pro Stop brakes which are dimpled and slotted. Does the dimpling really have any effect on the braking, or is it just a cosmetic type thing?
lemme know what you guys think about these rotors also and reccomend any others you guys are running and like.
also was checkin out the AEM pads, they seem like a decent buy.

thanks for sidetrackin' guys, i wanted to know about the powerslot rotors aswell...heh
i don't have an autozone around here, anything decent at a pep boys? probably the same stuff with different names.
as i said, i don't want the oem spec stuff, i want something that's going to perform a little better as i'm going to be going to the track.

how did we side track?
we are giving a better suggestion so you dont waste your money on stuff you dont need...check out the RR forum, most use AZ rotors because they are a wear item...no need to spend 60 bucks a rotor when you can pay 20 a rotor that does the same thing...

AGREE!!! I wouldnt worrie so much about Rotors right now. There virtualy all the same. unless your going to upgrade to bigger rotors, and bigger calipers. You arnt doing squat with "aftermarket" Rotors. You have failed to understand that TIRES have a BIG say in ur stoping distance. my DX will lock the tires EASY, because my tires are in need of change. Get some sticky Icky tires, THEN think about uping the brake system.
hey, if you wana do a some small things. If you dont have 4 wheel disk, go get some off an SI, along with a Proportioning valve, and have a field day.
That would do more to stop then sloted\dimpled\cross drilled rotors.

ok then, you just told me the autozone rotors will perform the same as the slotted rotor? if that IS the case, then i do appreciate the suggestion and i may go that route, i just want to get somthing that will have awesome stopping power, and i figured i may aswell get something different then the "autozone" type rotors i've been using for years.

No! They are brand new... you "turn" old rotors if they are still in spec and in great shape. With new ones, when you take them outta the box, spray them with brake cleaner to get the oil from the packing off of them. That's it.

if u slam on the brakes to stop. with your mods it will be the same as if u had power slotted. u will find it suprising how much power u actually need before needing to have cross drilled or slotted rotors to stop. but if you street race on not so long streets then maybe this is why u are so concerned...find a longer street or better yet keep it on the track

like i said, it's going to be for the track.
thanks for the suggestions maybe i'll take a look at the rotors from autozone or pep boys and get some decent pads.
i still think upgraded rotors would help on the track..

I tend to disagree with the slotted, cross drilled. or whatever (after market rotors).
I had slotted ones one my Prelude and when stopping the whole cars shakes. So, I tried crossdrilled and got the same thing. Now I am using just some regular rotors and it made a world of difference. No shaking, vibrating, etc and I got the 2yr warrenty.

I have Brembo slotted on my GSR, they are kinda cool I guess, but they really don't benifit me for what my car is used for. The biggest investment you can make is getting good brake pads, that will make just as much of a difference as good tires. I would reccomend some Cobalt Friction, I spent extra and bought Endless pads, but I probably could've gotten the same performance as Cobalt or Carbotechs.
its covered at least 4 times a day on here. Most people will tell you to just get blank rotors. Cross drilled are known to develop pressure cracks and slotted is just unneccesary. I can promise you there will be no difference in braking whether your rotors are slotted or not. I also dont suggest on the AEM pads because I had a set for a year and one side cracked both pads when I went to change out my brakes for the DA integra setup. Get you some blank rotors and a set of Hawk pads, maybe even a 90-91 ex MC and be done.
