B16 shift linkage

I was told i could use the stock shift linkage from my crx with the B16 but it would need to be shortened does anyone know if this is true AND how much would i shorten it.
You have to cut 2 3/8" out of the linkage then weld the pieces back together
We did this on my friends car..But I dont trust it....
In my opinion you should just pay the $95 for a shift linkage from azracemachine.com

If you actually have to ask if it can be done, you're better off just buying it made by someone else.
