I just bought a 2000 acura integra GSR, but my LS seemed faster
I just bought a 2000 acura integra Gsr...and it drives perfect and smooth and i love it...but its totally bone stock..its not even lowered..stock intake and all.....but it doesnt seem that that fast too me..because i used to drive a 94 integra LS with intake headers exhaust...and it seemed way faster...but i thought even a stock gsr would be quick you know...Do you think i should get intake headers and exhaust and throw it in the GSR and you think ill hear/feel vtec kick in and do you itll be faster than my 94 teg ls with i/h/e? Thanks..sorry if anything in this post sounds newbieish...just bare with me
Yea, a stock GSR is def much faster than a bolt on LS. Its prolly just your state of mind that the GSR would be 956780470X faster. Did you ever go do a 1/4 mile run of the LS? That would be the best way to really show you the truth about the difference.
EDIT: Practice learning a manual tranny. I'm assuming that the LS was a automatic, so get some wheel time and get back to us.

it's the noise factor, and the LS has a slightly stronger feel in the lower end. But ya, the GSR would romp on that LS.

gsr vtec sounds very weak even with I/H/E. u need to change the manifold. and u probably think ur ls is faster becuz of the sound.

I think that might have a lot to do with it....i still havent hit 3rd gear full throttle when i test drove the gsr....but im definetely going too...i think its probally just in my head that my ls seemed WAY faster....but im sure I/H/E in the gsr i should feel alotta go...Thanks for the responses guys...and my LS was 5-speed and i can drive...

it seemed faster because of the torque of the LS.. but see how much faster you can get the mph's up. the gsr will own the ls

i dunno why everyone thinks an LS makes more torque than a GSR. maybe because it has 37cc more displacement. an LS doesn't make more torque than a GSR. acura rates the GSR at 129 ft lbs, and rates the LS at 128 ft lbs. the LS just makes its peak torque a little lower than the GSR, thats all.

Ok, cool
Just checking to make sure. Yea, the powerband for the GSR is in the 6500-7600 range, so have some fun with it and you'll see that it is faster.

your ls seemed faster because you had i/h/e. It was loud and with the drop you got some road noise, and your car just sounded fast. If you get a short ram intake, headerback-exhaust, slam it, you will be perfect. Now if you want to get other boltons such as cams, cam gears, possibly another block? that is completly up to you. but the gsr should be pretty quick with those minor bolt onz

lol i dont know what this guys saying but my vtec rapes with a sri and a catback

That's what I was thinking too, when I first bought my GSR. I own a 97 ls, and it was stock. Now, when I hit the 5500-7000 RPM, this gsr screams, but not that loud. Also, would I ever hit the VTEC if I drive it as a daily driver and under 4000 rpm?

VTEC on a gsr kicks in at 4400 rpm, so if it was ALWAYS under 4k, then no.
It screams from 5500-7000 because the butterflies in the intake manifold open up and let in twice as much air/fuel mixure into the engine. Many people confuse this with VTEC when they ride with me in my car because it is a pretty substansial (sp?) noise difference.

when you spell it appropriately
its Vtec not Vtech

Yes.....very well said
That low-end peak gives you that early throw-back in the seat and makes you think its faster....1320 is the only way to show yourself.

that is why it feels faster. the more low end torque, the faster a car is off the line. this is why the LS "seems" faster

Intake and a quiet, but free flowing exhaust. Those basic things will make vtec noticeable at 4400, and the butterflies scream at 5750.
Then from there...well... its a totally different subject.

Most people go with a 4-1 header, but either is good. If you are going to spend 500 bucks on an exhaust system, look no further than the RSR exmag. It is fairly quiet and dynoed the same peak HP on my car with and without the quiet muffler bolted up.
