Default A/F gauge install help

Got a buddy installing one on a '03 Civic. There are four wires coming off his O2 sensor, 2 white, 1 black, and 1 gray. I can't find instructions anywhere.

just a heads up, unless he has a wideband O2 sensor it's not going to do **** for him. Just a fancy light show.

The wires off the gauge are black, red, and purple. Black and red are for power, purple for the signal, but we don't know which wire to hook it up to on the O2 sensor.

Tap in connector.. is that the kind with two "tubes" and a metal thing in the middle, where you pinch the connector and the metal cuts through the silicone?

gauge
red=power
black=ground
purple=to o2 sensor

o2 sensor
2 white=signal
1 black=ground
1 gray=power

might want to have a 2nd opinion on the o2 sensor part

purple goes to the white wire in ur ECU plug...the white wire is a lil thicker than the rest

He already tried one of the white wires off the sensor but I'm not sure which one, I'll tell him to try the thicker one if he hasn't already.

No. I used to have mine hooked up to the ECU wire and the signal looked like ****. I reconnected it near the sensor, and it's a nice crisp 1 bar instead of 3-4 bars bouncing all over the place.
