Default 96 hatch Leaking in the trunk!

it has been raining the past couple days in southern caLi and i decided to clean the inside of my car and trunk out. when i opened the hatch the carpet over the wood cover was wet so i rolled up the carpet and i saw that the wood cover was all wet and molded! then when i took the wood cover off there was about 2 inches of water underneath my spare.

i'm guessing the only problem i can have is the rubber hatch sealing. is there a way i can seal it without buying another piece from honda? or is there a place i can get it for cheap because they quoted my 116$ + tax for the damn thing.

PLEASE HELP!

Take the rubber seals off carefully and turn them around and swap them from left tail light to the right one and vice versa. I did it and have had no leaking problems eversince.

This is a very common problem on 96-00 hatch.
