Magnets in all oilpans?
I am not sure how much good a magnetic drain plug is going to do in the oil pan, the filter should trap any entrained metal particles. on the other hand, a magnetic drain plug in the tranny is a great idea, because there is not a filter there, and the fluid is much thicker.
have you ever pulled an oil pan with a magnet at the bottom? there's about a 1/4 inch thick pile of metal sludge sticking to it... so yes, magnets do make quite a difference.

I must be a lucky guy then, i had a set on the vette and on my gsr, in two years worth of oil changes done by me, i never saw shavings in then oil, but i have found some in the tranny from time to time. (slaps the head...remembering the last time i will ever try to double-down shift at the glen)
i don't think the brand matters, a magnet is a magnet. it's prob a good idea, but i am sure they aren't cheap if they say spoon. try spending money on a really good oil filter too, that may be just as effective
the only thing a magnetic drain plug will do is tell you when something is broken.
the oil filter is sufficient to collect any stuff.
