Default Magnets in all oilpans?

My friend said that most oilpans already have magnets in the bottom of them. Do integras have those?

Spoon has a magnetic drain plug for it, or you could also get a generic one from your local auto parts store.

I am not sure how much good a magnetic drain plug is going to do in the oil pan, the filter should trap any entrained metal particles. on the other hand, a magnetic drain plug in the tranny is a great idea, because there is not a filter there, and the fluid is much thicker.

have you ever pulled an oil pan with a magnet at the bottom? there's about a 1/4 inch thick pile of metal sludge sticking to it... so yes, magnets do make quite a difference.

I must be a lucky guy then, i had a set on the vette and on my gsr, in two years worth of oil changes done by me, i never saw shavings in then oil, but i have found some in the tranny from time to time. (slaps the head...remembering the last time i will ever try to double-down shift at the glen)

i don't think the brand matters, a magnet is a magnet. it's prob a good idea, but i am sure they aren't cheap if they say spoon. try spending money on a really good oil filter too, that may be just as effective

Has anyone tried or seen that magnet strip that you put around your oil filter? Looks like a good investment...

the only thing a magnetic drain plug will do is tell you when something is broken.

the oil filter is sufficient to collect any stuff.

On our cars, the tranny fluid is the same oil we put in our motor. So it's really not thicker. But a magnet there would be a good idea.
