widest tires on crx si wheels?

i got a set of 90-91 crx si wheels... and wanted to know what are the widest tires i can fit....i know i can fit 195x60x14....wanted to know if i can fit 205x60x14? whould i have any problems.. like rubbing or any turn in problems....?
i wouldn't put 205/60/14's it's gonna look like a boat. Typically when the first number gets bigger, you want the middle number to go down, to somewhat retain the original rotational circumfrance. It's not gonna make that much of a difference, but I don't know why I'm so concerned about it
Basically you would be traveling a tad bit faster than what you're speedometer is telling you, since the tires would be like a soft ball and the original tires are baseballs, each of them rolled exactly one circle, the softball will cover more ground per rotation than the baseball.
My advise, go to a tire shop, have them mount it on., check if it rubs. Usually you didn't 'buy' it until you leave the garage with the tires on, so you would be able to exchange them for 195's.

get some 195/55/14's...
apparently you can get 225 to fit on a 5 inch rim, but dam i wont ever try and mount that...
they do make 205/50/14 drag radials if im not mistaken and those will be a bitch to put on as well (tire guy)...

^^^nice post very discriptive, the difference of the height of the tires would be minimal due to the slight difference in tread width the overall height would increase 12mm were as to drop to a 205/55/14 would be a drop in tire height by 7.8mm either way the difference would be overlooked by almost anyone and the changes from a 195/60/14 to a 205/60/14 would increase the top speed by only 1.5mph but i think the lower profile might look a shy nicer to the patient car enthusiast- the largest to fit is 215 tread width without sticking past the fender wells or rubbing the shocks

i was thinking a 205 cause of the width....so i can fit 205x55x14 on my crx si rims... with no problem....i'm more concern about handleing that drag....so that would be a better upgrade?

sorry not quite understanding what you are going for i see jumping back and forth of sizes. the first number is the tread width you go larger if you can't hook up off the line altough the changes from 195-225 are only30mm total width or in other words 1.4inches. the second number is the aspect ratio this is the ratio of the height of the side wall in a percentage of the tread width in other words- 55=55% of tread width/first number. so basically this number determines the height lower profiles better style, higher profile better 1/4 times. in the end like I said it all comes down to what you want a stylish ride or drag car...don't know if any of my rambling helped so good luck!-ryan

thanks ryan.....i am looking for a street/road race kind of tire.... this is my daily driver so i just need something that would handle better..i did not know that they offered this sizes on 55... i thoug only 60....i'll prob get the 195x55x14 or the 205x55x14...
a basic rule of thumb would be for each increased size you would lower your aspect ratio by 5%...
ex: stock Si tire size 185/60/14
if you want 195 and 14 inch, make the aspect ratio 55 = 195/55/14
for 205 = 205/50/14
195 and 15 inch = 195/50/15
i say 195/55/14 because its a little more performance oriented compared to 185/60, and easier and cheaper to find than 205/50/14, as well as being a more comfortable daily driving tire...
ex: stock Si tire size 185/60/14

I had 205s mounted on my '87 Si (14x5) rims for about a half an autocross season. Took three guys and a BFH to mount 'em, though, and they weren't happy with me at the tire shop that mounted 'em. I paid 'em double for the trouble ($40 instead of the $20 they usually charge me for mounting up a set of 4), and they got happy in the same shoes they got mad in. 
Not sure of the exact size, but they were definitely 205-series 14-inchers. They worked great, and I was able to finish the season on them after I corded my other Hoosiers (235-45/13s). I didn't have any rubbing issues, but the sidewalls definitely were cantilevered out from the rim. I wouldn't consider putting anything wider than a 205 on a stock Si rim. Your tire guy might slit your throat at that point.
