clunking noises while braking

Default clunking noises while braking

my car makes a loud sometimes faint clunk noise when i brake. does anyone knwo what the problem is and how i can fix it?

ABS? Is it on slick surfaces? Unless it happens all the time, then that's probably not it.

happens everytime i brake....so its prob not the abs.

Either your wheel lugs are loose, or your calipers/brake rotors are loose. happened to a friend's car recently. The back was making thumping noises while braking. One day the back left wheel just shot across the road.

Check caliper and make sure it's properly secured.

Otherwise...check wheel bearings.

torque your cv nuts.

I checked mine and after a quick torque session.. had a "clunk/pop" noise go away.

I bet some of your wheel lug nuts are loose. My shop didn't tighten them after doing a valve adjustment right before I took a road trip down south. I was very lucky that I figured out the noise before a wheel fell off. They were that loose.
