how to lower my car i got skunk2 but idk how to lower the car
doesnt the Haynes integra manual go through the all the steps to remove your shocks and put new springs on? im pretty sure it does, get it at pep boys or some lame automotive store like that.
if i were u?? if u dont know what ur doing i would find some who knows how to install them so u could get warranty and u wouldn't have doubts on your own job aight

find a buddy who has done this before first, then take the wheels off and take a picture so you know how things go back together. Then work on taking the stock springs and struts off. If you lower your car more than an inch, a camber kit and aftermarket shocks are necessary, i don`t care what your buddy tells you

If I type it out I will inevitably forget something, but remember to have:
socket wrench (12, 14, 17mm)
breaker bar
jack and jack stands
exacto knife to cut your bumpstops if necessary
allen wrench set (or you can use the end of the tool in your OEM scissor jack set)
spray all your bolts with Deep Creep or PB Blaster the night before

I own a 91 civic hatch, but I've done the skunk2 coil install. Lowering = gay without performance results IMO. However, it's very simple, remove the (I think all are the same parts...) pull out the 14mm bolt attached to the lower controll arm. On the front, unbolt the brake lines from the strut. Up top, there are three bolts sticking through. Pull the two outer ones. This will not allow the spring to shoot off, it's held by the other. Once the unit is taken out, look it over closely at how they go together. The skunk2 kit SHOULD come with a diagram and directions. Once you've memorized it, pull the top bolt off. You may have to use an allan wrench.
WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING!!!!!!! SPRINGS HAVE THE ABILITY AND WILL SHOOT OFF!!!! I ALMOST LOST MY NUTS DOING ONE OF THESE!!!!
Your best bet if you don't have a compressor is to put the strut end up against a wall or something solid. Make sure there is a good distance for the spring to shoot off IF you so choose to go this route. If you choose to take it to a shop, take all 4 units at once. Once they're off, you don't need the shop to put them back on. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by ProjectDarkBlack »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">find a buddy who has done this before first, then take the wheels off and take a picture so you know how things go back together. HE IS RIGHT! I HIGHLY advise new struts! It'll save you a job in the future anyways. The camber kit is HIGHLY advised as well. I just put on the front coils. My camber was off (bad = about 2.0degrees) 3.1 degrees on one side and like 2.6 on the other side. Your alignment will also need to be done. (bad = .12) Mine was off somewhere in the 2 degree area. This wears tires, leads to unstable turning, loss of traction, and hardcore tire-wear.
The installation is just the reverse and much easier than dissassembly. And safer.
ADVICE: My car rocks Skunk2 coils (dropped about 1.5inch rear, 2.0inch front) with KYB AGX struts (4way adjustables) and it has gone for mountain runs. OMG Handling rocked. I stuck with (even with my 1.5L engine of 240K miles) BMW 328ci, Jetta's, eclipse, focus, camaro, as well as other performance cars...MODIFIED performance cars.
There's a sponsor in this forum somewhere selling KYB's at an OUTSTANDING price. Do a search for the thread.
The complete process is easy to do, and fairly safe mines the spring decompression. Oh yeah, front will shoot off harder than the rear. more compression up there. But anyways, it's easy, and fun to learn about your car. I did it with no experience (which is why I almost lost my nuts...) and I'm MORE than happy with the outcome...
Sorry for the length, but hopefully this thread will die.
Let us know how it goes.
