spoon motor help
okay,
im getting a b16 a1 for my 1988 hatch, then im getting sponsered by my friend ( he is sponsered by scp and can get me sponsered ). Then im buying a spoon b16.
what types of motors do they have ( like turbo ready and naturally aspired )
and how much hp are they pushing and is there any better way to go?

spoon engines are only really nice when you wanna get on the road course and they also dont really do turbo. I have heard of people who get spoon b16's and try and drag race them. they end up pretty dissapointed. i would only recomend a spoon built motor if you plan on doing quite a bit of road racing.
Also:: if you have a B16 in the car already why would you go spend $5000 on a spoon built one, why dont you just get spoon parts for yours.

I agree with HondaKPX. I don't really see the sense in doing the Spoon engine for drag racing. You said you are buying a Spoon engine. You are aware that those things are WAY expensive right? I say just get a plain old B16, build it up, and then turbo it if you are going to be drag racing. A built turbo B16 will rape Spoon's B16 over and over in a drag race, assuming that is what you will be doing.

You probably want the motor just because its a spoon engine but dont know what spoon actually does to it..
Spoon buys the b16a motor brand new from honda of japan..
Then they balance the rotating assembly and add a spoon headgasket(Thats it).
That motor is around $5000-around $6000after shipping..
Its a very good endurance motor for autocross or something like that, but that's it..So unless you plan on road racing with it you'll be dissapointed in the what is offers..
Honesty for $5000 you can have a much better motor setup then a spoon motor..
Remember the $5000 you spend on the spoon engine only includes the longblock..
You still have to buy mounts, tranny, ecu, wiring changes,axles,etc....

Nice to see you got yourself an avatar finally Mr.speaker... Ren & Stimpy kick ***.
Anyways, like he already mentioned, the $6000 Spoon engine is only the long block, there is still like $2000 more that would need to be spent just to get everything up and running. So for $7000 bucks, there is some more financially sound choices. **** that is almost enough to get an insane turbo GSR engine going in there... or even get started on a K20 conversion.
