Did my beater crx come with a rare Mugen LSD??
I picked up a 88 crx that had the interior stripped. Got it for free. Towed it home and tested it out.
It has 150k on it and runs so good. I did a redline launch, 1st and 2nd was all rubber and left 2 equal marks.. no pegleg.
My question is, its 100% stock. I doubt the tranny has ever been unbolted, it came from a old man who was the original owner.
Someone told me that i may have a rare mugen lsd.. Is this possible? Did these LSD's come in stock CRX trannies? And how can i tell other then knowing it leaves 2 rubber marks
Thanks!

If this is true, then you have you answer right there. No 88-91 US CRX came with LSD, much less a Mugen version.
I don't think a pegleg test is 100%, if the tires are crappy enough and the surface is loose enough, I could see an open diff car being able to lay two tracks down also.
You can check, as was mentioned, if you can see completely through (LSD) or if it is obstucted (open diff). That works when trying to determine if you have an open-diff or a helical LSD from the factory on the b-series trannys. Should work for aftermarket models if they are true LSD units. Not sure how a phantom slip type unit (modified OEM) will appear...
It's been a while, but I thought you could just jack one side of the car in the air, leave it in gear, and see if the airbone wheel wants to spin (LSD) or not (open diff).

I agree with this guy. I bought my CRX from an old guy too, they are the best people to buy things from because their cars don't seem to wear as fast. Which probably explains your car having a good amount of 'oomph' still.

yes, leave it OUT of gear, jack up the car on both sides and spin the wheels. if it each wheel spins opposite directions, then its an open diff. if both wheels spin one direction you have lsd

Jack it up and spin one of the front wheels with your hand. If the other wheel spins the same way, you have LSD. If it spins backwards, you don't.
My old d15b2 would lay down two patches of rubber. Doesn't always mean LSD.
edit: b2o-vtec beat me to it.
