Default Should I use the D15 or D16 crankpulley on my ZC?

I recently did a motor swap, but i'm running with the d15 crank pulley and not the pulley that came with the ZC. I have heard that this can destroy the bearings. Is this true? Should I be running the ZC pulley? And if so, does anyone know what size belts to use? Does it use the stock d16a6 belts? TIA.

When I had my EF I swapped in a DOHC ZC & teh crank pulley was dinged pretty bad, so I used my A6 pulley and it worked fine.

I don't have an A6 pulley. Ive been using the d15b2 pulley because the ZC pulley I have doesn't look compatible with the altenator pulley. What do I need to do to correct.

drain your oil and look for metal flakes especially copper/gold colored flakes that'll tell ya if you're bearings are getting wore down in the wrong way.

Ok, Ill do that. But How do I correct this problem? I can put the pulley on tomorrow when I get out of work, but I don't know what belt to use. The pulley on the alternator has 2 ringed grooves and the ZC pulley has 3. Can I run the 2grooved belt as a temporary fix?

my guess is that its that heavy for a reason, a lighter pully is on the less powerfull, lower reving engines. So there is alot less force on them for that reason.

I would have to say do not use a lighter pully unless it is an aftermarket one (so you can blame it on them )

bu tthere is someone on here who did that recently, he built a D16a6 for $500!!!

using weights on the pulley is for balancing the engine. A balanced engine = lasts longer...unbalanced = faster but will wear down faster.

I have had an HF pully on my ZC for 2 years and it works fine. I have never found any metal in the oil(and I do look). They put different pulleys on the same motor from the factory. If you have AC you have a pully with an extra groove in it for the belt. If you have PS you need a groove for that belt, or if you have none of that then you only have 1 groove for the ALT. Don't tell me that honda balances each of these motors different to mach the pulley thats on there. Any factory Honda pulley that fits on your motor will work just fine.
