Default How NOT to replace your antenna mast

So I broke my antenna mast a week ago at the car wash. I know

I got the replacement in the mail yesterday and went to tackle the project today. Everything went fine except this. X 10

So any of you folks got an idea on how much it might cost to fix that jewel of a scratch? Assuming that I provide the paint.

Just touch it up and forget it was there.

Body shop shouldn't charge you much for something like that.

ouch. I have no idea on price, but I'm sure a good body shop could do a pretty decent job filling that in for not too much money. it may not be perfect, but they could certainly make it look better.

touch it up, the forget about it.
to properly fix that, a bodyshop would have to colormatch and paint the scratch, i believe your whole 1/4 pane would have to be repainted as well or atleast re-clear.

Holly crap!!!

see how there are those knicks...you must have been reeming on the screw driver pretty hard to get it to glance that many times off the paint!

I'm asuming you went from inside and removed the rear interior panel and got everything all loose and disconnected first right?

Forget the expensive body shops...put a nice 'ricey' sticker over it. Your gauranteed to get comments like "Hey, nice shiney new antenna" or 'Wow man, where did you get that sticker...it's got to add at least 20hp to the wheels."

Aloha,
Brandon

I did the same thing when removing my antenna.

Actually, I'm a little worse than you. I had read about the risk of scratching your paint with the screwdriver when removing the silver cap, so I broke it loose carefully and did not scratch my paint. I then tried to turn the silver cap by hand, but it was still slightly too tight to be loosened. So, annoyed, I used the screwdriver again with much less force than the first time and proceeded to loosen the cap and scratch my paint.

I've got a little sticker promoting a friend's tinting business that covers both my antenna hole and the scratch perfectly.
