calibrating tps sensor help??
OK. I posted this up at superhonda but nobody is helping me out there so I figured I post up over here. Anyways, my crx (d15b2) threw a CEL, I checked it out and it was flashing a code 7. I replaced the tps sensor and now my car idles at 2krpm and stays there. It doesnt drop when I shift gear or when its in neutral. I read somewhere that I'm suppose to calibrate the tps sensor, but I have no idea how to do that. Someone please tell me how so I can get it to run right, so I can smog it and sell it. Thanks!!!!
Get out your multimeter and find the wire that reads about .5 volts with the throttle closed and the ignition ON. The 3 wires going to the TPS are +5volts, Signal (the wire you're looking for) and ground. Loosen the TPS (if its factory installed, you'll need to notch the "screw" heads so you can turn them with a flat bladed screw driver. Now with your multimeter probing the signal wire, adjust the postion of the TPS until you get 0.50 volts (.49-.51 is ok too), now tighten down the screws and double check the voltage to make sure that the voltage hasn't changed. My advise of the easiest way to do this is with the throttle body unbolted from the intake manifold, so you man need a new TB gasket. Hope this helps!

OK. You said in the 1st sentence to find the wire that reads .5 volts with throttle closed and ignition ON and in the 2nd sentence you said all three wires are 5+ volts. Im confused now. Since there are only 3 wires going to the tps sensor. I checked out the wires with my digital multimeter and found that only 1 of the wires has .5volts or 5 volts, im not sure which it is because I dont really know how to use the multimeter. Anyways the other 2 wires are not anywhere near 5 volts, they're both between 1-2.5 volts. Maybe I'm not doing something right??....anyways when adjusting the tps sensor, how do I check the voltage from the tps sensor?? Im new to all this stuff so please bare with me.

Read it carefully watching the punctuation, he means as in The first wire is +5 volts, The Second wire is the Signal wire, and The Third wire is a Ground wire.
hope that clears it up for you.

also, the signal wire voltage (the one that reads .5) changes when you move the throttle plate. That is how you check the voltage too... while reading the multimeter, move the throttle plate by hand, and at WOT it should read 4.5

thanks for clarifying that up for me. so onto my next question, how do i measure the voltage from the tps sensor? or do i just move the tps sensor around until the voltage from the Signal wire falls between .49-.51 volts??
