Mine weighted 18.9 lbs when I replaced it with an 8lb fidanza.

12.5 lbs is perfect for your h22. too light like 8lbs it drop like a **** and is not good for your engine.

I wonder how much weight it takes off when you resurface the flywheel?

I'm guessing about a 1/4 lb or so

No it's not.

Don't listen to dudes like this. Comments like this made me worried about getting an 8lb flywheel. Now that I have it, I consider it the perfect weight. The RPMs don't drop as fast as these dudes say. THe rpms drop enough to make shifting easier.

It doesn't even make everyday driving any harder.

Anyone that cries about RPM dropping to quickly with an 8 lb flywheel needs to consider learning to drive. Seriously, that claim holds about as much water as the "H22 is too heavy to go in a civic" myth. I am no Petter Solberg, and I have no problem shifting quickly with my fidanza flywheel, and I drive my car every day in traffic.

My stocker was around 19 lbs

Here is the difference.

It is recommended to go with 8lbs for road racing/ auto cross. It enables you to have more control over the engine rpms and your shift points. 12.5 and up is recommended for Drag racing and normal daily driving. You want more rotating mass as to get as much power to the ground as possible in a drag racing situation. If you have a high HP drag monster with an 8lbs flywheel, im willing to bet you may have some traction problems as well as the RPMs dropping very rapidly during upshifts. thats my logical explanation.
